Cutting and pasting

Post by jhwatson1 » Wed Dec 22, 2010 12:19 am

I am producing and editing an audio book.
There are some phrases which I use frequently and I want them all to sound identical.
I want to paste the same exact phrase into various places.

Is there a way to copy and save that phrase in a special place and simply click/paste it into the audio track at various places?

(I'm thinking of Microsoft Word's ability to save up to 12 pieces of text to a clipboard and then paste them into the document wherever the curser is located by clicking on the appropriate clipboard icon.)

Yes, just create a new track and copy the audio clips there. You can mute that track so that it does not play when you don't want it to.
Audacity 1.3.12 can have multiple audio clips in the same track, and the entire piece can be made up of lots of clips in lots of tracks. An "audio clip" (a discrete section of audio) can be selected by double clicking on it.
