Audacity getting no input

Before you flame away, yes I did read the sticky about setting up windows 7's stereo mix...

Anyway, I still can't get any input into audacity. Just had a youtube video playing and got no input at all. Do I have to record arm the individual track? (sorry I'm not familiar with audacity) Or is it enough to just hit record?

I have stereomix selected in my recording devices. Listen to this device is checked. In Audacity I have software play through deselected.

Is there still something I need to do?

Please try reading our Wiki help. If "stereo mix" is enabled in "Sound" in Windows, restart Audacity, click Edit > Preferences: Devices, then in "Recording Device", select "Stereo Mix" (either the MME or Windows DirectSound choice for it will do). Then you should be able to just record (make sure the input level is turned up).

"Listen to this device" should be unchecked - it creates feedback echoes like "software playthrough" does (which you correctly have turned off in Audacity). I've removed that suggestion where I could find it on Forum and Wiki.
