Program has stopped recording sound all of a sudden!

Post by JosePrendes » Mon Jun 02, 2008 3:46 pm

Hey guys,

I have been using Audacity for my podcast 'Creeping Menace Radio' for almost a year now, and all of a sudden the program has stopped recording my audio! It won't even let me import music files onto the timeline.

It isn't my mic or soundcard, because I have tried recording on other programs and it works. What could it be? Why would the program just suddenly stop working?

PLEASE HELP!

thanks,

Jose

It could be that you have recently changed something else on your computer, for example installing another program - fairly common culprits are VST plugins, if you have the "VST enabler" installed in Audacity.

It could also be that the Audacity configuration file has got messed up. You can safely delete the configuration file, and this will reset Audacity to a "fresh install" condition.

By default, the configuration file is: Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacityaudacity.cfg

It could also be that you have run out of disk space, or any of a number of other things, but I would check these first.
