Can't record
I have windows xp and in Audacity I've adjusted the preferences but that doesn't work. When I put what I'm using as 'line in' and I hit the record button, it's just a flat line. Then when I put it on 'microphone' and hit record, if I don't move the mic, it's just a flatline but if I do move it there's like a scratchy noise, like this ----> http://www.4shared.com/audio/5-7QM4od/noise.html

Re: Can't record
See Troubleshooting Recordings.
If you still can't get any audio programs to record, go to Sounds and Audio Devices and select the line-in or microphone there.
If that does not work, reinstall the audio device using the drivers CD that came with the computer.
If that doesn't work, see if you can get better drivers from the manufacturer of the computer motherboard, or buy a cheap external sound card like Trust.
