You method would be fine until you change your latency setting,
or incidently select some other track before recording.
This makes the new tracks start at even earlier time.

I Changed the interface from Czech to English and now I CAN SEE i was blind before ...
Edit > Trim does what we need.
Maurigug, use this one.
Besides being fast,
it is much safer (I hope !) and does retain information like track name and splits.
