Edit Metadata on Audacity 1.3

I have recently downloaded Audacity 1.3 and also purchased the excellent ebook "Getting started with Audacity 1.3" from your site. I am currently following all the lessons but have got stuck at page 98 (Saving Your Exported File). I have completed the Edit Metadata box and, once i click OK, I should have a SAVE AS window displayed. This window does not automatically display. Is there any way i can get round this. I am using Windows Vista.

Really? I wasn't aware that there was a book for sale. As far as I'm aware all of the official documentation is available free on-line http://audacityteam.org/help/documentation
If there is a good book on Audacity 1.3 then that is useful to know - do you have the web address of where you got it from?

You seem to be mixing up "Save" with "Export".

"Save" (and "Save As") will save an Audacity Project - this is not a standard audio file and will only work in Audacity. There are two parts to a project, the .AUP file and the audio data (there is no audio in a .AUP file)

"Export" (and "Export Selection") will export the current project as a standard audio file. The default format is "16 bit WAV" which is perfect for burning to CD and is compatible with just about every other audio program, though very few programs support Metadata in WAV files, so there is not much point spending time putting it in.
Audacity also supports several other file formats.

When you "Export" a file (File menu > Export), there is a window that pops up so you can select a name for the file, the format, and the Options.
After you press the "Save" button, by default the Metadata editor will pop up. You can either fill in the details or ignore it, but you must press the OK button to complete the export. The file is then exported.

Thanks for your quick reply, and i will try it out this evening.

The book is "Getting started with Audacity 1.3". I bought it because the advert said the money would be used to help fund further projects.
The book is really good for complete beginners like myself.

I also bought "Audacity Compact" by Markus Priemer but can't understand any of it.
