You can't.iOpportunity wrote:Im trying to record skype calls.

When Skype is running it takes over the sound system and prevents "Stereo Mix" from being selected.
To record Skype calls you need specialist software such as Pamela or Total Recorder (there are also several others listed on Google.)

It may be worth trying again as they may have now fixed it.
How do they do that? Are they using a virtual sound card such as SoundFlower, or Virtaual Audio Cable, or VAcard, or perhaps they are using Linux.iOpportunity wrote:There are vids on youtube of people doing it
There are several ways to record Skype, but selecting "Stereo Mix" is not one of them because Skype prevents it from being selected.

Reason: Link removed - a bit too much like an advert and we get LOTS of adverts for commercial Skype recording applications.

Re: HELP PLZ
Yours for $49.95. Total Recorder will do this too, for only $49.95 (Pro Edition). It's extraordinarily difficult to do this without involving money-based software. The problem being it's a very restricted market, so there's no return on a low cost effort.
Skype gets away with being "free" by using your internet connection when you're sleeping. You are their cheap server.
There's one more problem in all this. There are two ways of capturing Skype: jam both conversations onto one sound track, or split them between left and right. The latter is called for if you're going to use the capture for production or podcast. You can't manage the sound if you can't make the far end louder without affecting the near, and you can't split up a conversation after it's already one track.
Skype is grudgingly respected because they're one of the few packages with excellent reliability. They do it by taking over your computer with an iron fist. This makes capturing the work a very serious task.

Re: HELP PLZ
You can use Pamela Business for €29.95 and I wouldn't be shocked to find that works out to US$49.95.
