Hi All,
I've just downloaded the latest beta (1.3.12) and I'm really pleased to see that Audacity now offers NATIVE support for VST plugs. That's really helpful for me - I never had any success with the VSTbridge! So a big thank you to the development team.
I have a couple of questions, though:
1. Is it possible to instruct Audacity to ignore specific VST plugins or VST plugin folders?
2. Is it possible to organise the way VST plugins are displayed in the "Effect" dropdown? Either by organising them into user-defined categories (alla Reaper), or by instructing Audacity to display VST plugs according to the file structure on disk.
TIA, and apologies if this has been covered before (I did a quick forum search and couldn't see anything)

Re: Organising VST Plugins?
I don't think it is, but I agree that it would be a good idea.tommyd wrote: 1. Is it possible to instruct Audacity to ignore specific VST plugins or VST plugin folders?
Perhaps you would like to suggest it on the "Adding Features" part of the forum: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewforum.php?f=20
There is however a workaround that you may find useful.
Once Audacity has found one or more VST plug-ins, it does not look for any more unless you tell it to rescan for plug-ins (Edit menu > Preferences > Effects).
Temporarily remove any plug-ins that you do not want listed.
Restart Audacity.
Close Audacity
Replace the VST plug-ins that you temporarily removed. These "new" plug-ins will not be listed in Audacity unless you specifically tell Audacity to rescan.
At present, no.tommyd wrote:Is it possible to organise the way VST plugins are displayed in the "Effect" dropdown?
There is an experimental feature for categorising plug-ins which was tried some time ago, but it was very unpopular with many users as it was not possible to switch this feature off. I think that the long term plan is to bring this feature back, once the developers have worked out how to make it so that the user can switch it on or off.
