How do i record a second track while listening to the first track and not have the first track appear in the second track?

Set you sound card to record from the input that you are using and not from "Stereo Mix" or "What U Hear".
(for example, set it to record from "Mic" or "Line")
You may be able to set this from the Volume Control in the Desktop Taskbar, otherwise go into the Windows Control Panel to set it. (see here for some information about the Windows Control Panel http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... trol_Panel )

Thanks a bunch, i got it. I used to get really frustrated at audacity for this, and now i'm a happy camper.
