Cannot disable internal sound recording

Hi,

I am using audacity version 1.3.12 and Windows 7. I am using headphones and trying to record audio JUST through my microphone. I also am using youtube at the same time to see how my audio would match with the music. However, even with the playback device set to 'headphones' and the recording device set to 'microphone', as well as the channel set to 'mono', I can't seem to make audacity only record the microphone sounds; it records the youtube music as well. Is there a way to disable it?
Thanks in advance!

Where are you making these settings? In Audacity or in the Windows Control Panel?

In Audacity. I did play around with the settings in 'Sound' from the Windows Control Panel, but nothing worked so I just reset it and tried to figure out Audacity instead.

Could you say what the exact settings are that you have in Audacity "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices"
and also, what is set as the default recording and playback device in 'Sound' from the Windows Control Panel.

Also, what sort of microphone are you using and how is it connected to the computer?
Is there sound coming out of the computer speakers, or only through your headphones?
