Audacity Forum

This is the message I get when I open my songs in audicity.

"Audicity Recognized this file 'C:Documents and SettingsAdministatorMy DocumentsMy MusicUnknown Artist Unknown Album (11-4-10 11-39-49 AM)\07 Track 7.wma'.
Importers supposedly supporting such files are:
FFmpeg-compatible files,
but none of them understood this file format."


( yes this was a pain in the but not being able to copy and paste, had to copy word for word.)

someone please help asap. I'm not that good with computers. help would be very appreciated

Audacity itself only supports a very limited range of audio formats (partly due to licensing restrictions).
To overcome this limitation, Audacity 1.3.12 is able to use an add-on program called "FFMpeg" which greatly increases the range of file formats that it can import and export.

To import WMA format files, you need to have FFMpeg installed.
