I kept getting "An unhandled exeption occured." and something like "An error occured when trying to initialize the sound. Check the projects sample rate." and stuff, very similar to this old post I found http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 16&t=11593. Anyway turned out it was only on this one project. So I fixed it by deleting all the recently added tracks and then trying playback, when it worked I used Cntrl-Z to undo the last track deletion and added the tracks back one by one each time testing playback. Finally I found the specific track that was causing the problem (must of corrupted during recording) I deleted that and then it ran perfectly. Possibly I could of mix and rendered the track and it would of worked and been able to keep the track. But I didn't feel the track was that important. Just thought it might help someone out there to know.

Thanks, Benjamin. The message says "error opening sound device". The problem could actually be too many tracks instead of a corrupted track. Audacity is very sensitive to the number of tracks you can have in a single project window, but you can cut and paste some tracks to a new project (as in the post you linked to) in order to work around any limitations.
