Hello,
i am trying out the portable version of Audacity version 1.3.12-beta(Unicode)
on windows xp sp3.
I use a ram drive as a temp dir and it has only the size of 700 Mb, so
to work with Audacity i need to change the temp dir to another location.
In the preferences is posible to change the directories and after
choosing another location the program says
that to take efect of this change you need to restart Audacity.
But after restarting Audacity the temp dir is not changed to the new location,
and it remains on the windows default "tempdir".
Can someone tell me please if is there another way to change the temp dir location.

Re: Portable version temp dir
Are you using the version from the main Audacity web site, or from PortableApps.com, or some other version?Sonidito wrote:i am trying out the portable version of Audacity version 1.3.12-beta(Unicode)

Re: Portable version temp dir
i am using the portable version downloaded from the homepage
of an german computer magazin (CHIP).
AudacityPortable_1.3.12_Rev_2.paf.exe
(http://www.chip.de/downloads/Audacity-P ... 22620.html)
After your post, i did take a closer look at the Audacity homepage
and did find this version :
http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/au ... 1.3.12.zip
It does not look like an portable version but i startet it anyway and
it seems to work fine. Now it is posible to change the temp dir.
thanks

Re: Portable version temp dir
We can't really offer support for that version as it is not an official Audacity release, so we don't know if/how it may have been modified.Sonidito wrote:AudacityPortable_1.3.12_Rev_2.paf.exe
To make a "Portable" Windows version from the official 1.3.12 Audacity,Sonidito wrote:It does not look like an portable version but i startet it anyway and it seems to work fine.
- Down load the "ZIP" file from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows
- Extract the contents of the zip file to wherever you want it (for example a USB stick).
- Find the file "audacity.exe" file, and in the same directory as the exe file, create a folder called "Portable Settings" (without quotes). This folder will be used to store the Audacity settings.
To change the location of the Temp folder, go to "Edit > Preferences > Directories" and choose the folder that you want to use. (Check that the folder path as shown is correct - the folder must exist or this will not work).
Click OK, then restart Audacity. When you restart, the new setting will be saved (in a file called "audacity.cfg" in the "Portable Settings" folder).
