Currently, I am running Audacity on Acer Aspire via Windows 7 Ultimate.
I am having a strange issue trying to record playback of my computer.
The first instance I open Audacity, I can record playback perfectly fine (I have used audacity on a previous computer for this purpose and am very familiar with the proper setup). If I close audacity and open it in another instance any other time following the first, the program no longer records any sound and registers as though no sound is playing from the computer. No settings have been changed or modified following the first instance of running the program, and I have double checked all the settings to ensure they are correct.
If anyone has any idea what the problem might be, I would greatly appreciate the insight. Thank you!

Check which version of Audacity you have (Help menu > About Audacity). You should be using 1.3.12. If not, you can get 1.3.12 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows
Check in the Task Manager - when you close Audacity does it close completely?
Are you running in compatibility mode? If not, try compatibility mode for Vista or XP.
