Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

F GREEN

Post by sanlorenzo » Fri Oct 01, 2010 1:50 pm

HELLO AUDACITY TEAM
I am now using Audacity 1.3.12 and successfully recording from LPs. Until yesterday, that is, when I did not succeed to get the turntable to communicate with the PC and a box with the misterious name "FGreen" appeared to the right of the Mixer Tool Bar.
Who or what is F Green???? What can I do about him/it?

While here I want to thank the designers of 1.3. Beta for having included a routine that saves the work done before a power failure shut-down. I live in the country and power failures (usually of less than a second's duration) are frequent, I therefore find this feature VERY useful, to say the least. Thanks again.

Thanks also to WAXCYLINDER for having introduced me to ClickRepair. It is fantastic and I would recommend it to all those converting their vinyls to CDs. I agree with WC that the DeClick is set too high at 50: it has eaten whole song tracts that supposedly were badly damaged - VERY invasive surgery! I also found that the 50 setting overtaxed my processor which overheated and I had to pause to let the temperature return to acceptable levels. Setting the DeClick to 30 removed both problems.

Can you post an image of what you are seeing? Is it the Meter Toolbar (green playback meter to left, red recording meter to right)?

Is this the same USB turntable? If so you should not be seeing any inputs in the Mixer Toolbar input selector itself. Choose USB Audio Codec as the Recording Device at Edit > Preferences: Devices (note if you connected the turntable after starting Audacity you will have to restart Audacity so it can recognise the turntable).

Thank you, Gale
When I set the recording device to USB Audio Codec, "FGreen" changed to "Microfono" (sic - in Italian) and recording took place, including SOUND which heretofore I could not get.
Question: do I have to do the Edit>Preferences: Devices > USB Audio Codec every time I want to record????
Ciao

If the turntable is always connected to the computer and plugged in to the power supply before you start Audacity, no. In that case you can choose USB Audio Codec just once in Audacity Preferences.
