I've been happily using version 1.2.6 for a while but recently changed to the 1.3 version. Great to see FLAC output and better metering, but scrolling around waveform charts seems desparately slow.
For example when editing a track, using the scroll bars means a delay of 2 - 4 seconds moving from one frame to the next 9if I click one to the left or right of the scroll bar). Very stuttery.
Otherwise it is working fine.
PC is reasonable spec (6000 AMD dual core, 2 Gig ram, SLi motherboard etc.)
Anyone had a similar experience?

Make sure that you do not have "Show Clipping" enabled. If it is enabled, it will slow things down A LOT.
"Show Clipping" is selected in the "View" menu.

Re: 1.3.4 scrolling problem
I don't know what that option does, but when it's on, Audacity throws an exception during recording when the screen fills up and the waveform needs to scroll over. It doesn't happen all the time - it seems to only happen when the windows width is a certain size.
With "show clipping" unchecked, everything is fine. As a matter of fact, if I turn that option on while a recording is in progress, it will crash the program with the same error.
Thanks for the indirect solution!

Re: 1.3.4 scrolling problem
Just to say I had the same problem with the programme crashing when recording and the cursor reaches the edge of the screen and needs to scroll. Your solution - to turn off show clipping - works for me to. Many thanks.
Re: 1.3.4 scrolling problem
"Show Clipping" is a very useful tool that will help you to precisely locate an occasional clipped peak in a recording. The clipped peak will be highlighted with a red line. However it requires a lot of system overhead, particularly if there is a lot of clipping, which is why it is switched off by default (and should normally be kept switched off).
