Export Multiple

I've just switched to 1.3.12 (thanks for the recommendation to do so!) and have a question about something that'd different from the 1.2 version I'd been using.

With 1.2.x, when I was exporting multiple labels (individual song files split from one longer file), all I had to do was click Export Multiple and check the box that named the files the way I wanted them to be named (I just let it use the name I'd given the master file, and it added a number at the end of each smaller file).

In 1.3.12, I'm presented with a dialogue box for every file -- named Edit Metadata (see attachment) -- and have to click something for progress to occur.

Is there a way I can avoid that, and have it happen the way it did in 1.12.x?

Thanks-

Carey

Click on Edit > Preferences > Import/Export and uncheck the box that says "Show Metadata editor prior to export step".

1.3.12 is pretty smart about putting metadata (ID3 tags) into MP3 files during Export Multiple.

The text of the label will go into the Track Title field, and the sequential number of the label will go into the Track Number field. So if you make the labels the titles of the songs and choose to name the exported files by the label text, not only will your files be named with the song title, but the ID3 tags will be filled in correctly for you as well!

If all the songs are from the same album by the same artist, you can do File > Open Metadata Editor before you do Export Multiple and set the Artist Name and Album Title - Audacity will put those (and other common fields such as Year and Genre) into every exported file.

Note that you still need to uncheck "Show Metadata Editor before Export step" as Irish explained.
