Problems recording? Sound coming out of one speaker...

Post by Lady Dubbz » Sat Sep 18, 2010 7:02 pm

Hi,
I'm having trouble recording DJ mixes and can't figure out the problem. When i'm recording a mix through audacity, every other track the levels at the top are showing that it is only recording through the right channel/speaker... When exporting the file and listening to it back the 1st track on the mix comes out of both speakers then the 2nd track only comes out of the right one and the sound quality is very poor/muffled... The 3rd out of both and so on. However, when i'm mixing without recording the sound plays out of both of my stereo speakers which are connected to my amp, it's only when i record i notice it.
I've tried to explain this as best i can... I am desperate for help as this is holding me back.
Thanks.

You need to Zoom Out. We can't understand completely enough what you're doing from your tight analysis of just Audacity. Describe the turntables, mixer, interconnection cables, type of computer, where the plugs go in, etc. etc.

You have the kind of problem that demands detail like this. Most problems like this can't happen inside the computer -- or it's really rare.
