Ok - I just worked about 2 hours editing a voice over and clicked "save project" and then shortly after, "x'd" out of the file...
Then I went back to check on something and found a nice little surprise
Two text boxes popped up one after the other
The first says ======== Could not find the project data folder
The second says ====== Could not load the file
What is going on??!!!!!!!!!
*Maybe something I should make a point to note -- is that I made a COPY of the original file and edited the COPY in case something happened and I needed to get back to the original.....................does making a COPY have anything to do with this???!!
*I also "x'd" out of the file pretty quickly after hitting "save project" = I don't know if that is a contributing factor but it shouldn't be??
Other than this...I keep on getting the orphaned file messages (screen shots attached to this post) and SteveTheFiddle tried to answer my previous question about it but the orphaned messages continue to come up and I don't know what's causing them --- and they possibly might be partially responsible for the problem mentioned above...
So...
1) How can I recover the file I just lost and what happened... + How do I prevent it in the future?
2) And can someone explain why I'm getting the orphaned files messages - and why anyone would get them........and how to make everything just run smoothly???

Maybe you didn't. AUP isn't a sound file. It's a laundry list of instructions what to do with all that stuff in your /DATA folder. They go together.
MyVoiceOver.aup
/MyVoiceOver_data
If you split one off without the other.....I'm not sure what would have happened.
What you were intended to do is save your project. Then you save a new project with a slightly different name with Save Project As.
MyVoiceOverPartB.aup
/MyVoiceOverPartB_data
MyVoiceOver and MyVoiceOverPartB are two separate shows/projects.
Then you can load and edit either one without affecting the other.
None of that will give you a sound file. You need to Export to get one of those.
MyVoiceOver.wav
It's going to take me a minute to read that again and figure out what you did. No matter what, the AUP file and the _DATA folder of the same name have to be in the same directory or folder. That's required.

I still can't visualize exactly what you did, but you may have several different problems.
Next time you get to the end of a show, Save a Project, certainly, but also Export As WAV.
That will give you a stand-alone sound file of your show that's not dependent on anything else.
A Project is a clutch of different files -- not one file -- and people get into trouble all the time by splitting up the pieces and trying to manage them while they're split.
