I want to use the Audacity software with a compact recording system. Do you know which Interface it is compatible with?

I don't really know what you have in mind by a "compact recording system" other than perhaps the form factor of the device. Try reading Sound Card Reviews and other topics on the Recording Equipment board, then start a new topic in Recording Equipment if you want to ask a question.

It also depends on what you want to record. If you are wanting something portable for making microphone recordings, then one of the compact "field recorder" devices (such as the Zoom H2, Fostex FR2 LE, Edirol R-4, .....) would be ideal. If you want to record from a mixing desk, or from a turntable, or from the Internet, then other methods would be better.
