Hi! Don't want to complicate things but I am happy to work in either 1.2 or Beta, whichever is best. I am a Newbie, but have succeeded in recording a nice sound and playing back. But my data files for one song are in separate pieces in the Data folder. How do I get them to be sequential for the purpose of setting up a track for overdubbing, which is my next project.
Thank you!

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Please don't double post - it only annoys people and wastes their time. I have already replied to your earlier post.
In reply to your implied question in this spost, you are likely to be much better off with the mature Beta 1.3.12 than the now ancient 1.2

okay, sorry. I just thanked the person over in 1.2 but will stay with Beta from now on if that is going to be better for my needs. I will go back over to 1.2 and explain why I am leaving that subforum.
PS I use Windows XP pro SP3.

Most of the elves consider there is only one "real" Audacity, the 1.3 version. Audacity 1.2 is seriously old, no longer supported, and can cause serious problems on newer machines. The 1.2 version is still offered as the good one over our objections.

And in particular 1.3.12 for most of us this current Beta is the best ever Audacity. It still has a few niggles which are well documented in the release notes. Earlier Betas did have some glitches which tripped folks up but 1.3.12 is what I use for my production environment - on XP-HE and XP-PRO.kozikowski wrote:Most of the elves consider there is only one "real" Audacity, the 1.3 version.

Great! I am using 1.3.12 on XP pro as I start out in the world of Audacity.
