Sudden Static Issue

Ive encountered this issue several times now, I am running win7 32bit.

I record our band in several instrument tracks, one at a time and save along the way, everything is clear and clean. However, once I close audacity and reopen the file later on suddenly there is a massive amount of static. Even if I export as a .wav file the static is there, BUT if I copy and paste the saved file over to another computer the static is no longer there.

Any ideas??

I thought it was my mixer for the longest time because once this static problem is there even making a new track in the saved file has the static there, but once I tried the files on another computer i knew it was the computer or program. Also, I never have this static in Ableton Live.

Do you hear the "static" if you use the Solo/Mute buttons to play just one track at a time?
Does your project contain the original tracks AND a mixed down track?
Could this "static" be caused by "distortion"?
When you hear the "static" can you also hear the music, or is it only noise?

It is also music with loud static underneath.

My project is a track with everyone playing, and then 4 individual tracks one each for guitar, bass, drums, vocals. After recording them all and playing back (the 4 separate tracks not the grouped track) there is only a tiny tiny bit of static. Once I close then program and reopen my saved file the loud static appears.

If I solo a track the static is there, and it doesnt sound distorted, the audio is all there as it should just the underlying static is bad.

Not sure how much experience you have with Audacity. See if you can manage this:

Find a short part of the recording where the static is particularly noticeable and select a short section (say 2 seconds) across all of the tracks.
Press Ctrl+T to trim all of the tracks down to just these 2 seconds, then "File menu > Save Compressed Copy of the Project" and give it a different name from your original project.
Press Ctrl+Z to Undo the Trim operation.

Upload the compressed copy of the project somewhere on the Internet (for example sendspace.com or some other file sharing site unless you have your own web space) and post a link here. Be sure to include the entire project data_ folder as well as the .AUP file (it may be easiest to make them into a ZIP file if you can do that).
