Whilst listening to a video on, say,
http://www.last.fm etc the sound seems fine with a good flat equalisation. However, when I start Audacity the bass suddenly drops 20dB ish. Closing Audacity does not reverse this change, the audio remaining lacking in Bass. Closing IE8 and re starting it once again gives good tone until Audacity is again started.
I've used Audacity for a few years without problem but this recent problem has me stumpted.
Any suggestions guys?
Barry

How are you listening to the show? Where are the speakers and how are they connected?
If you play this short stereo test clip, are all four segments audible and sound more or less human (given that it's me)?

Thanks for the reply kozikowski - yes the file plays OK on Windows Media 11. Tone sounds good, very natural, until I start Audacity that is. Then the file continues to play but the base dissappears. I'm listening on the laptop speakers and the effect is dramatic - everything below 1 KHz seems to dissappear. Same with any MP3 or WAV file via WM11.
Any further thoughts?
