How to copy and cut a piece out of the middle

I have a .wav file on my hard drive which I created long ago, using Nero, from two cassette tapes.
Unfortunately, I had some trouble starting the second tape and, although successful in the end, the result was a garbled thirty seconds between the end of one tape and the beginning of another.
Can I use Audacity to copy the file from my hard drive and, at the same time, cut out the bad thirty seconds?

You can open the file in Audacity and use the normal editing tools to get rid of the trash in the middle.

Open the show and use drag-select and zoom tools to find the beginning of the trash. Plant a label there. Zoom into the end of the trash and plant another label there.

Zoom out enough to see both labels. Drag-select over the labels and they will become magnetic and pull the cursor to the point. Delete.

Export as a new sound file.

Control-E --zoom into the selection
Control-F --zoom out full
Control-3 --zoom out a bit.

Control-B place a label
