I have been trying to export my music file as an MP3. I have tried downloading Lame a few times. The link provided in the Audacity pages doesn't work, and the download I did find resulted in Audacity throwing up a message that said it was incompatible with my version. Can someone please provide me with a link that will give me a compatible download? I am using Version 1.3.12. Thanks.

You need to use a version of lame_enc.dll supplied by us. The LAME links on http://lame.buanzo.com.ar do work if you left-click them and allow your browser and firewall to send HTTP referrers. If you still encounter problems please try:

* http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/Lame_v3.9 ... indows.exe (installer)

* http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/lame_enc-win-3.98.3.zip

* http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/libmp3lame-win-3.98.2.zip

* lame_enc.dll (3.98.2) without manifest (this solves most problems which can't otherwise be resolved):

* As a last resort, a version of lame_enc.dll 3.97 which should work in 1.3.12:

We do not recommend LAME 3.97 because that version produces distortions unless you use bit rates over 192 kbps.

I tried the first link you provided and it worked so easily. The page that I was using previously that wouldn't work is:

Is that the link that says "All users: Download an unzipped copy of the required lame_enc.dll here"? If so, that file comes from the same buanzo site. That site does allow you to click that link from any audacityteam.org site (like the Wiki) and download the file directly (I just did it). It does not allow it if your browser or firewall is blocking HTTP referrers.

For example, there are instructions here to turn referrers on in Firefox.
