Hi there,
I am new to Audacity. I have the new beta 1.3.x. I am trying to slow down the playing speed of a track and put it on my iPod. When I use the Time Track option, I set the speed to 83% on Lower and Upper. When I play it, it sounds perfect, but then ends before the song actually should. The actual song is around 4:35sec long at normal speed. When I slow it with Time Track, it stops at around 3:50sec. Any way to slow an entire song from start to finish without cutting off the end of the song? I want to put it on an iPod later.
Thanks
Slowed Time Track doesn't play entire song.

Assuming you mean this problem happens in the exported file, it's a known bug if slowing down the track. It exports at the slower speed but (approximately) the length of the track on the screen, hence the export is truncated.smoof16 wrote:Hi there,

The solution is to use Effect > Change Speed if you want to lower pitch as well as the tempo (which is what Time Track does), or Effect > Change Tempo if want to change tempo without changing pitch.

Thanks for the reply,
Yes, the problem happens in the exported file, if I view it in iTunes for instance. I transfered the file in a WAV format, then converted to MP3 in iTunes .If I want to slow the song down to say, 83%, can you walk me through the steps in "Change Tempo" in Effects? What should my "Percent Change" be in a decimal? Do I need to worry about beats per minute? What should my lenght in seconds be, from what to what?
Thanks for all of your help, its been quite a nightmare trying to figure this one out.

Re: Slowed Time Track doesn't play entire song.
The boxes and the slider are all interlinked so you only need to work out one value. You want the track to have 83% of the original speed, so you have to reduce it by (100%) less the required speed (83%) gives you a reduction of 17%, so enter -17 in percent change. If you wanted to reduce it to 75% speed, reduce it by 25%.smoof16 wrote:If I want to slow the song down to say, 83%, can you walk me through the steps in "Change Tempo" in Effects?
