Crash during MP3 export

Note: I did find another thread on this (http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=9450), and tried most/all suggested fixes in addition to ones mentioned below with no success.
I've been using Audacity 1.2.6 w/ LAME 3.98.2 to record LP records and export the songs as MP3s with no problems until today. In the middle of the export process, the program crashed. I ran several exports to make sure it was consistent, then tried exporting an existing WAV file as MP3 (it crashed). Other file types export normally, so what is happening between LAME and Audacity that my ability to export as MP3 suddenly bugged up? I reinstalled both Audacity and LAME with same results. I also tried installing the latest 1.3 beta of Audacity - it also crashed during the export process.
I made sure the sample rates and project rates were the same (44100). I am exporting the songs as 320kpbs stereo MP3 files.
I'm running Win 7, and none of my rig's components should be putting a damper on the export speed.
