SORTED OUT THANKS :P

Hey, thanks for checking this out.. :D
Ok, so basically a while back, Audacity crashed.
Now whenever I try to load up Audacity, an icon comes up on the bottom.. but no window ever appears.
Using alt + tab, the description is "Automatic Crash Recovery", but nothing ever happens, and task manager always says program is not responding, as if the automatic crash recovery is always crashed.
I have tried restarting, and uninstalling and reinstalling, and deleting any registry key with the word "Audacity" in it but still whenever I load it up, I can never get into the program.
I am quite baffled as to why this happens, there must be some files somewhere on my computer that are causing it to go into automatic crash recovery... there is nothing in the temporary folder though.. :S So please if anyone has any ideas, apart from a whole system reset, please let me know!
I'll love u forever if u can help me :P!!
Many thanks,
Matt D :(

I'm at a loss to figure out how to cure this in 1.2 - but a workaround may be to download 1.3 and use that. Don't worry to much aboutthe "unstable" labelling of 1.3 Beta - 1.3 is in it's later stages of development and the latest releases are actually fairly stable. I have been only using 1.3 for several months now.

Audacity 1.2.x uses the Windows registry.
You can "reset" Audacity 1.2 by removing the registry entry at HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAudacity
(Back up your registry before making changes, just in case)

If you are not confident about editing the registry, then try Audacity 1.3.4 as suggested by WC.

lol this is about the beta version, not the 1.2 version ... this is the right place to post this yeah?.. I might just download the 1.2 version and use that, but it's annoying cuz isnt the beta one better.. and how much better? still.. thanks for getting back to me. :P I've also found that i can use it on guest account, but not on my computer account :S..

Oops (I was replying to the previous post rather than looking at which board we were on)

That's strange - the guest account should be more restrictive than your user account.

To reset Audacity 1.3.x you can delete the configuration file:
Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacityaudacity.cfg

well... about the guest thing... i think its just that it allowed the program to be used on the guest, just with none of my files like the one u mentioned above so it worked as if it had just been installed.
And it was that simple to fix! I love u forever lol. :P and these forums too lolz.
