Latency in sound when playing bass guitar thru Audacity

Hello,

I have a LightSnake cord plugged into my Bass Guitar and into my PC.
When running Audacity, I selected SOFTWARE PLAY THROUGH in the
preferences of Audacity and my bass does play, though it has a latency
in the sound, meaning I play a note and half of a second later the note
comes through my headphones.

How do I get it to play real-time through Audacity, so there is no
latency?

You don't with software playthrough, because that inevitably has delay as the sound is driven round the computer. And you can't do it by hardware playthrough with LightSnake because it isn't a playback device. Try hardware playthrough by connecting to the mic or line in of your computer as per your guitar instructions, then unmute that input on the playback side of the Windows system mixer. Or get a more full featured USB interface that gives you monitoring via a headphones jack.
