Audacity 1.3.12 (the current Beta) for Windows 2000 and later requires all the following dll's in its installation folder in order to work properly, so you should leave them alone:
msvcp90.dll
msvcr90.dll
wxbase28u_net_vc_custom.dll
wxbase28u_vc_custom.dll
wxmsw28u_adv_vc_custom.dll
wxmsw28u_core_vc_custom.dll
wxmsw28u_html_vc_custom.dll
As to your problem, is it that you are recording a track that says "stereo" when you want to record mono? If so, click Edit > Preferences: Devices and set recording channels to "1 (mono)".
For any tracks you have already recorded in stereo, select the track by clicking above the mute/solo buttons then click Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono.
