Could Not Install MP3 Encoding Library

Keep getting the error message "Could Not Install MP3 Encoding Library" when clicking on LAME. Had it happen with 1.2, deleted then then installed the Beta 1.3 and got the same error message.

I've used 1.2 for over a year with no problems, had to do a restore on my computer, now can't get LAME to install. Have read documentation 'til my eyes are bleeding.

Any suggestions?

Do you mean "cannot open MP3 encoding library" after you have installed it? If you mean "could not install" please try saving the LAME installer to your Desktop and double-clicking it from there, rather than trying to execute it from a temporary folder. If you have the admin password, you can also try right-clicking it from the Desktop > Run as Administrator.

If you still can't use an installer you can download lame_enc. dll by clicking here or obtain libmp3lame-win-3.98.2.zip from http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/ (which means you have to unzip the dll).

Thanks for your help, Gale. The straight downloads didn't work but downloaded the file zipped and it worked. Btw, FYI I'm using Google Chrome (don't know if the browser could cause a problem with a straight download).

Once browsers or download managers get a faulty copy of a downloaded file, then when you download the file again they will usually keep giving you the faulty copy from their cache until you clear their download list or cache. In Chrome on WIndows, I find that clearing the list doesn't help - you still get the old file. So I just use another browser in that case.
