Hello everyone, before posting I checked all the posts regarding recording problems but none of them helped me.
My problem comes in when I try to record with either overdub or playthrough option on, because when I try to record, the indicator of recording stucks at 0 and when I stop recording Audacity gives this error: "Latency problem: Latency correction has caused the recorded audio to be hidden before 0. Audacity has brought it back to the start at zero. You may use the time shift tool to drag the track to the right plays."
Obviously it doesn't record anything, there is another track but it's empty. If I try to deselect the overdub (or playthrough) option i can record with no problems. I think it's an hardware problem, since I used the same equipment (microphone , ecc) but on another pc and it gave me no errors while recording with those 2 options on. Anyway does someone know hot to solve my problem? Because it's really frustating when I have to cut and use time shift tool just to sinchronize 2 tracks.
Oh and sorry in advance if there is any grammatical errors, but i'm not English ^^.

Make sure you haven't got Transport > Sound Activated Recording checked. That will give you the symptoms you describe (with the blue Pause button remaining depressed) if the input is lower than the activation threshold.

Otherwise, reboot. If there is still a problem, are you sure the sound device you are recording with is full duplex (able to record while playing at the same time)? Most devices should be, but make sure your sound device has the latest drivers specific to your particular computer model and operating system, as supplied by the device or motherboard manufacturer. Thanks for the answer, i checked both for the option "sound activated recording" and the drivers of my sound device, but the problem is still here. I think it's my sound device that is not full duples, as you said before, because the problem exists not only when i enable the option overdub or software playthrough, but even when i try to open an mp3 file or a metronome online.
Seems like all the sound devices incorporated in the motherboard are totally useless lol.
Anyways thanks for your help, i think i'm gonna buy a cheap sound device which is full duplex.
P.S.
Do you have any idea of a very, very cheap sound device which is full duplex? Or maybe something to fix that problem of my sound device...

You could try these USB devices assuming you have a spare USB input on your computer:

• Behringer UCA 202
• Trust Sound Expert

I use the Trust and it's a good basic recommendation with mic and line inputs and ability to record computer playback. The Behringer is of high quality as regards the actual sound but only has a fixed level line input. So you would need a pre-amplifier or mixer to attach a microphone to it.
