Exported Music Has Strange Background Noise

Post by thetzfreak » Mon Jul 05, 2010 8:55 pm

When playing my recording in the project file, this noise isn't present. However, when I export the recording to MP3 (or any other filetype), there is a strange background noise that "moves" up and down with the song. You might need to put on decent headphones in order to hear it. It's a bit hard to explain, but perhaps you can hear it yourself and see why this noise is being created. I have uploaded the file here:

All help is appreciated!

Thanks a lot.

It's difficult to know what I should be listening for, but I don't notice anything that I would describe as "a strange background noise that "moves" up and down with the song".

I do notice that there is a little bit of distortion in a few places (sounds similar to the type of clicks that occur when there has been a little bit of clipping, but it is not due to clipping in the recording (your recording level is fine - plenty of overhead and no clipped waveforms). Other than that it sounds like a pretty clean recoding of an electronic piano.

Have you tried exporting as 16 bit 44100Hz wav and making an audio CD to see if the "strange background noise" is present if you play it on a stand-alone CD player?
