No no, I know there has been no mention of the USB because I did not even think that it could of been the reason till now, but still I dont think it would matter if I am using a USB converter why isnt the Stereo Mix picking it up to use it?

And no that was not the window, I wish I could take a picture of it but I am afraid if I uninstall audacity then I wont even be able to record through my line in area.
Edit: If you dont have that enhanced thing with the two drop downs then you have just the speaker and mic where you can adjust it well directly to the right of that there use to be a drop down window.
Editedit: I looked under the view toolbars and it says there all enabled, maybe it was something in a past version that is now replaced with that enhanced drop down.

I have a suspicion of why that is, but I'd need to check some details to be sure. Do you know the make/model of the USB converter, or even a web link to the product?

cause you need a different driver and other settings to use usb

we cant help you if you dont think we need all the info
nor if you misdescribe what you are trying to do
and omit a bunch of other details

your simple answer
with your win7 and usb headset etc you cant do it . period.
use that other program or dont.

The only person who has actually helped in any way was Steve. Whomper quit posting in this thread you are starting to troll.

and I clearly stated the last time I used it was before he made a second user on this computer CLEARLY that imply's I was already using windows 7 No settings have changed, except for the fact Audacity was reinstalled, it worked fine before with my Headset/USB combo. And I have given you all the info, when I discover new information *gasp* I update it. So you know as much as I do.

If anyone who can seriously help me like Steve has feel free to do so, please stop trolling and arguing.

And By the way Whomper Windows 7 is not the problem, all you have done is belly ached how it is.

Its a Plantronics converter, I got it a while back with a diffrent headset. I can see if I can search up a website to it and I will edit this to link it to you.

Edit: This is the closest I could find to it the only difference with mine is the end you plug the headset into is fatter.

<<<Edit: None of you have helped in ANY way.>>>

But it's not for lack of trying. Sometimes when we don't know what's causing the problem, we'll bounce ideas back and forth between us. Yes, this can get awkward across multiple time zones. We can only go with the English words that appear in the question and if someone does this long enough, they get a feel for the direction of the problem even if the poster doesn't come right out and say.

It doesn't always work, but we do our best -- and we're all volunteers, so it's not like you're tapping into a corporation with thousands of repair people. We'll all chill and see if we can get your problem resolved.

I would stop editing old posts. We depend on a linear presentaion of the problem through the thread and the possible solutions in the order of time. Having to go back to Page One Chapter One to manage the problem is very time consuming and wasteful particularly given the length of the thread. I accidentally opened the first post and found you edited it with additional information. Information hiding from some of the elves trying to help you.

Videz, this sort of name calling is unacceptable, whatever the rights and wrongs of what Whomper wrote. We know you are frustrated but you won't facilitate matters like that. Whomper, please keep out of this topic now so everyone can cool off a bit.

Glancing through the post I find it quite hard to figure out the equipment you have and what you are trying to do. I think you want to record some kind of audio that is playing through the computer, and listen to it in the headset. Is that correct, if so what audio exactly do you want to record - something playing in the web browser?

Please give us the make and model of the headset or at least explain how it is connected to the computer. Does it connect to the computer via dual 1/4 inch jacks, one into audio out and one into the mic port; or only via a USB cable? I don't really understand what the USB converter is - where does that come into it? Is it a Bluetooth headset and the USB converter takes the audio in/out of the headset into the computer?

If this headset is presenting itself to Windows as a recording device as I would expect, and doesn't operate as a sound card with its own ability to record stereo mix, then you can't (I think) record stereo mix in any obvious way with Audacity because stereo mix works by capturing the audio on the same sound device that is playing it.

You say (I think) you have you been to the Win 7 system mixer. The first step is to go back and follow the instructions in that link to double-check you are showing the disabled and disconnected devices on the Recording and Playback tabs.

If you prefer to take this off the thread then you can send me a private message with the answers to the above questions.
