Vista - Mixer Input Level

Hi folks,

This is my first time posting and my first experience with very impressive Audacity.

I am running Audacity 1.3.4-beta (Unicode) on a Vista Home Premium system and am having a heck of a time setting up the mixer to work properly. I have been able to get the input slider to partially work. That is to say, that the slider affects the record level, but doesn't change what is happening on the input level meter. It seems reasonable to me that it should. I have tried it with an on-board Soundmax and a PCI Soundblaster. Both with the same results. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
