which software is better to use audacity 1.2 or 1.3 beta unicode

For almost all users, the current version 1.3.12 is best. Version 1.2 is having more and more problems dealing with modern operating systems.

My preference is definitely Audacity 1.3.12

by the way im quite struggling using it.
i gt a microphone which i want to vocaling on a beat.
buh i dunno how to set-up the things in audacity in preferences
cn you help???

The process is basically the same as making a Podcast with music. See this tutorial:

The first thing you need to be able to do is to record
something with the microphone. Once you have that bit working the rest should follow quite easily.
If you still have problems, start a new topic and describe how far you have got and at what point you are stuck. Try to describe in detail (no-one can actually see your set-up except you).
