Error whilst opening sound device
Posted: Sun Jun 20, 2010 2:37 pm
Hi there, I am hoping someone can help me with this problem.
I have been successfully recording radio "Listen Again" streams using Winapp, but at the end of my free trial, I was wondering whether Audacity would work (at a much preferred cost to the £36 that the Winapp people want
)
I have downloaded Audacity onto my Windows 7 (64 bit) laptop. After a bit of reading around the manuals and forums, I managed to find the "Stereo Mix" and enabled this option via Control Panel. However, when I return to Audacity and check the Audio device information, I can see that my Stereo Mix option has no supported rates. In Control Panel, I set the rate to 44100, but this is not reflected in Audacity.
Next I checked my Driver Card settings - it is VIA High Definition Audio. When I looked at the driver details, I noticed that the drivers were located in the Windowssystem32 subdirectory. Does this mean that there is a clash between the 64 bit operating system and a 32 bit sound driver? If so, is there any workaround?
I am not a hardware person or particularly technical with operating systems and drivers so please bear this in mind if you ask me a question.
Many thanks for your help.
