Converting to MP3

Post by ivolod » Wed Jun 16, 2010 12:50 pm

Hello,

I've recorded and edited a song with Audacity, and it's finished. I have converted it to MP3, but now half of the song is gone. The file is as long as before, but there is just silence between certain times...

What should I do??

Do you still have the Audacity Project? (both the AUP file and the _data folder)
Does it play correctly?

Yes, I still have the Audacity project and the _data folder.

And well, no, it doesn't play correctly. The song is playing, both in Media Player and in Audacity, but there is just silence. That's the trouble.

I've seen something like this.. best guess is you ran short of disk space or memory during some operation. "undo" has gotten me back in those cases.

In the flow I usually use for recording LP's (remove DC bias, rumble filter, remove some clicks, amplify, export) disk space needed is about 10x what a .wav file of the album side would take.

Is the waveform still visible in Audacity?
What happens if you apply the Amplify effect to the track?
Do other projects play correctly?

Thanks for these replies... I'm going to try these things tomorrow, I'm very tired now.

(I live in The Netherlands, so it's 0:43 AM here now :P)
