I've been using audacity 1.3.11 and 12 for about 7 months or so and in the last week or so its stared to create a 2nd nested cleaned directory under the original cleaned directory that has been there the entire time and place the cleaned files in that location....as far as I know I have not changed anything and trying to go back to manually Export an mp3 to just the first cleaned folder isn't resetting it...I'm only seeing tis behavior with the Apply Chains ExportMp3 and also the SaveHQmaster from the premade "Clean Speech Chain" is giving an error about unable to open target file for writing as well.
I'm no expert here so I'm at a loss as how to fix this or the cause. I use the pgm to do a daily 3-4 minute weather forecast podcast nothing fancy and then clean it up before upload.
Thanks for the help,

You could try resetting Audacity Preferences as described here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audac ... defaults_2

Any other options?
Seems kinda like killing a fly with a shotgun to wipe the entire config to just reset one directory issue....

Lol - I like the analogygkasica wrote:Seems kinda like killing a fly with a shotgun
What I would try is making a backup copy of the audacity.cfg file, then resetting the preferences. If resetting the preferences fixes the problem, then go back to the backup copy and have a look through it to find what's causing the problem,

Re: Audacity 1.3.12 sudenly creating two nested cleaned dirs
I made a copy just in case and went to look at it and found the entry for this:
[Export]
Format=MP3
Path=C:\Program Files\Audacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode)\Modules
It initially had a /cleaned at the end of it..I removed that and now I'm back to where I started with cleaned files getting saved in that file tree in cleaned.
Solved.
