custom VBR settings

For talking I would like to be able to use a VBR ranging from 24 to 48. I'd also like to have music settings different from what comes with the program. Is there any relatively easy way of creating some of my own VBR settings (short of customizing the program code)?

The "Preset" button just offers the four "named" presets. All ten VBR presets can be found if you select the "Variable" button.
If you want something else then when you export you can select (external program) instead of MP3 files, click the "Options" buttons and specify your own
command to LAME. That assumes you installed LAME from our
LAME installer to Program Files/Lame for Audacity.
