cannot import wma files

I am unable to import wma files into Audacity 1.3.12-beta. I have installed the ffmpeg files but apparently they don't "take" in Audacity as the Edit - Preferences - Libraries sheet shows ffmpeg library not found.

I am using Windows XP SP3. I am pasting the contents of my log file below. Why am I getting all these "the specified procedure could not be found" error messages? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Make sure you have FFmpeg from http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... Ins#ffdown and installed correctly into C:Program FilesFFmpeg for Audacity.

Remove C:Program FilesFFmpeg for Audacity from PATH and reboot. That isn't needed.

You may have conflicting versions of FFmpeg. If so, remove them so the libraries in C:Program FilesFFmpeg for Audacity can work. If necessary you can search your computer for "av*.dll" (without quotes). That command finds any dll files whose name starts with "av". The FFmpeg files will be called avcodec*, avdevice*, avformat* or avutil*.

If that does not help, the next step is for you to download Dependency Walker from
http://www.dependencywalker.com/ (x86 version)

Open avformat-52.dll in the FFmpeg for Audacity folder with Dependency Walker then simply "File > Save as", save avformat-52.dwi" and send it to me (gale AT audacityteam DOT ORG) - formatted as a normal e-mail address.

Also it would help to know what exact error messages appear in the Preferences and Locate FFmpeg dialogue when FFmpeg fails to load.

I found all those av*.dll files in the c:program filesAudacity 1.3 (beta) folder as well as the c:program filesFFmpeg for Audacity folder. The versions were older in the Audacity folder - 1/8/2009 vs. 7/20/2009. Should I dump the old ones? There's also a 1/8/2009 version of ffmpeg.exe in the Audacity 1.3 (beta) folder.

I also found the av*.dll files in my TVersity folder. I have now removed that program from my computer.

I will also remove the c:program filesffmpeg folder from my path command.

I don't think the current 1.3.12 Beta will even recognise the 1/8/2009 libraries. So, C:Program FilesFFmpeg for Audacity should have the 7/20/2009 files only. To be safe you should clear out all files relating to ffmpeg (*av, *lib, *swscale, *zlib and FFmpeg.exe) from the Audacity 1.3 (beta) folder.

Thanks for your help.

I uninstalled Audacity, then deleted the remaining files in the Audacity folder and the folder itself.

I reinstalled Audacity and the program found the ffmpeg libraries. Of course, after that the WMA file imported quickly.
