ok so i have a major problem, everytime i record, ill play it back and their will be this whistling sound in the background that comes in waves rythemicly, but its like one pitch of whistling 4 or 5 times in a row, then a weird whistle that changes everytime, then back to that begining pitch. it wouldnt be that much of a problem though if it didnt distort the entire recording, like it warps my voice. it will make me go extreamly quiet at some points and if i hold out a note it will fade it out and make louder whistling noises. ive tryed noise removal but then i realized, its already warped my recording which ruins it w/ or w/out the noise. help would be appreciated because my band is coming over this weekend and were gonna start recording to help get our music online.

-i just got a new computer (w/ windows 7 of course)
-i had the beta and the oldrsion of audacity on my old computer but it never did this
-i have checked and changed my cords
-i am utterly stumped

If it's a laptop, try running if from the batteries.
If you have a microphone plugged into the microphone socket, check (very thoroughly) in the sound card control panel and see if there's a control for "noise cancellation", "noise reduction", "echo cancellation" or similar - if there is, switch it off. If you have a RealTek sound card, they usually have such effects hidden away - sometimes behind an icon that looks like a spanner.
If it's none of the above, you'll need to give some details about your set-up. Too much information is better than not enough.
