First of all sorry if this is completely simple and I've not found the simple answer. I have searched but not found anything.
Basically, I have recorded a number of interviews to be put together for a podcast. Everythings sounds well when listening to the aup files. However when transferring to mp3 I lose the audio. It works well for a few minutes and then goes silent. I understand this may have something to do with "click" which I can see if I examine the file but I can't seem to clear them up. I've converted single files and they were working perfectly but now seem to have developed clicks which weren't there before. Using the "find Clipping" isn't bringing up the red lines. Not to sure what settings to use. I can hear no clicks when listening to the aup files so am lost to know what to do next. How do I convert these files to mp3?

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Newbie - MP3 conversation silent
Sorted it. I was saving at 16 bit and not 32 bit.

Make sure you use FIle > Export. If you have a selection in the waveform (or only one track selected) and use Export Selection, only the selection will export. Any muted tracks will not be exported.Ridgeman wrote: Basically, I have recorded a number of interviews to be put together for a podcast. Everythings sounds well when listening to the aup files. To find out if the clicks are really in the MP3s or just clicks from a bad sound device, import them back into Audacity. If you have exported silent audio, you may hear clicks from a bad sound device because there is no audio to mask the clicks. To see if MP3 is responsible, export a selection as signed 16-bit WAV and see if that clicks in your player. If MP3 is responsible, try reducing the amplitude with Effect > Amplify before you export, and use a higher MP3 export bit rate (Options button in the Export File window).
If clicks are in a file for some reason, you can attach a 30-second MP3 sample (Upload Attachment underneath the Preview/Post Message buttons).
