How do I select (isolate) one song from long recording?

I have a recording of a show my son was in, and it has about 15 songs back to back. I want to end up with 15 individual files, so I can edit them and then make a CD for friends.

While I can select songs through trial and error, I keep losing my "start" position. Is there a way to mark the "in" and "out" points, and then cut and paste that selection to a new file for just that one song?

Or is there and easier way to do this?

You can use the label tool. Identify the first note of the first song and set a label at that point. Control-B, maybe?

After the end of the song, set a new label at the beginning of the portion you don't want. Label the beginning of song two, beginning of the trash, song three, etc.

Export > Multiple will give you a pile of individual sound files. Use every other one.

There are more complicated ways to do this and yes, video editors have been yelling about Set In and Set Out for a long time.

Yeah - simple and it works.

Thanks Koz! Just saved me LOTS of time.
