unable to save as 16 bits

Post by Church_1md » Tue May 11, 2010 11:53 am

Hello Audacity forums.
I have a problem . Recently my Audacity was unable to save audio as 16 bit ( micspam purposes :D ) even though i have succesfully converted many other audio files before.
I opened them again to make shure everything was right but it was still 32 bit after I checked 16 bit .
I tried reinstalling and reconverting the audio but whit no results.Could anyone help ?

If you *export* to "WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 bit PCM" you will export a 16-bit file.

If you *import* that file back into Audacity, it will display as 32-bit float by default above the mute/solo buttons because it is Audacity's default behaviour to import or create all audio at 32-bit float resolution.

If you prefer to work with 16-bit resolution in Audacity, you can go to the Quality Preferences and change Default Sample Format to 16-bit.
