Not jumping back to previous position if I cut a clip

Post by deltakid » Fri May 07, 2010 11:20 am

The view area is not jumping back to the previous end of a recording when i cut and paste. I use the latest 1.3.12 version and in other versions this worked. I usually record several things and then just cut + paste the pieces into one track. Before it was very convenient because whenever i cut a piece i recorded it jumped to the beginning of the recording so i could just paste it in the track above - cut the whole pieces again - paste it in the track above... and so on.

Now i always have to scroll to the beginning of the recorded piece. That's pretty annoying. Is there a fix for that? Would be great!

You should be able to do that with the "Home" key.

I can see where track focus would drive the rest of us nuts because after a paste, the next most likely thing you would want to do is stay there and tune it up and adjust it, not snap to the head of the show.

You have to press END anyway, right, to get to the end of the dump track for the next paste? Audacity doesn't support edit markers.

We had a long discussion about the problem of generating silence. That would snap the view to full and in a long show, you would lose your edit point completely.

There are a lot new view settings and preferences in Audacity 1.3.
