Ok so i am new to audacity and I'm trying to record my voice over a elevator music instrumental for school. My voice recording is soft and when i record over the instrumental my voice can barely be heard.Even the waveform on the recording barely moves when i record my voice. The instrumental is in place but my voice has to be super loud to make it recognizable on the recording. please help with directions.

Not quite enough here to go on. How are you getting your voice into Audacity? Are you playing the music back and announcing over it creating two tracks?

You can easily make your voice louder by selecting it and Amplify. You can use the tool defaults and it will go as loud as possible or select a value in the middle.

Most people, even the grownups, fail to create a finished, polished, perfect show the first time. Most people capture all the pieces of the show and then use the tools in post production to adjust everything to a harmonious show.

In extreme situations, the singer performs to a simple piano tune on Wednesday and the rest of the orchestra shows up -- without her -- to fill in the rest of the performance on Saturday afternoon. And all the instruments don't have to be there, either. I have a singer friend that's creating his music CD with all three of them on different days. It's not optimal like that -- particularly if you perform to an audience as he does, but that's perfectly normal.

It doesn't always seem like it, but this is a dialog. What was the problem and how did you resolve it?
