Just downloaded this 1.3.12 version and I get a mixture of English and another language. For example the top of the Audacity screen says Leer Redigeer Aansig Transport Bane Genereer Effek Anailiseer and Hulp. How can I get this in all english. As it is now It is not usable to me.

To answer your question, click Edit > Preferences: Interface tab on the left and change language to English. If this is the first time you used any Audacity version, then the language preference will be set to "System" and you will see whatever language the operating system uses.

Here is what I get. I uploaded a screen shot hopefully you can pull it. 1st I click on something called Redigeer, next I click on preferences which is in english, What shows up on the left is Devices, then Terugspeel, opneem, kwaliteit koppelvlak, bane, import/export, projects, libraries, spektrogramme, gidse, warnings effects sleutebord, muis. There is no interface tab. I am confused

You need the tab called "koppelvlak". You are currently set to Afrikaans.

Thanks Steve. Should have guessed the Interface tab we wanted would be translated.
For anyone else reading who wants to change language to English but cannot understand the language the menus are in now, you can change language in the Audacity settings, or by navigating in a numerical fashion like "two along, six down". See:
