Before you edit or apply tools, Effect > Normalize > [X] Remove DC. Don't check anything else.

Next time you insert silence or do any editing or effects the show should not pop.

The show blue waves should hover around the zero mark like this...

That downward shift in your show is not normal and indicates damage.

Yeah my sound card is low quality. Do you think I should buy a usb microphone so it doesn't have to go through the sound card?

Yes, a USB microphone may be in order, but that's not the reason. I have a USB sound device and it has some DC offset. Quality is likely to pick up is the real reason. Microphone amplifiers need to be carefully shielded and used in an electrically quiet environment. Sound cards are almost never shielded and the inside of a computer is full of electrical radiation garbage.

I have one of these...

Terrific microphone for Skype, OK for narration, but I wouldn't sing into it even if I could sing.

You need to tailor the type of microphone to your sound job. And remember, USB microphones tend to record slightly low and you can never get more than about 3M away from the computer (one USB cable).
