My program problem

i just downloaded audacity..imported my beat and hit record and for some reason all i get is the audio my mic pics up from the room..i dont get any sound ..but when i just play the beat by itself i can hear it clearly ..can any one help me with this ?...i thought maybe it was the version i was using (126) i even downloaded the beta one and i get nothing but the same results ..

dont know cant say without a lot more info.
i suspect your pc and soundcard settings but who knows without all the info about your configuration and settings etc.

Audacity 1.3.12 is the recommended version.

You "imported" your beat from "File menu > Import Audio"?

If not your microphone, what are you trying to record?

I down loaded audaciti 126 on a windows 7 with 64 bit. but when I open a file I do all the stepes but when I get to the point where I need to use the tools from the effect pane all the tools are gray and I can't use them it doesn't let me cann any body help me with that problem pleasethe voice from a song

You need to be in Stop mode not just in Pause mode - and you must have some audio selected for the editing tools to become available.

Select audio by clicking and dragging with your cursor - or Ctrl+A will select the whole project.
